25/1/01 - Bechervaise Island
A beautiful day. Lots of people from the boat have organized to get themselves out to Beche to have a look around. We've had about 50 people out I guess.
It didn't work - we have not retired rich.Tomorrow is Australia Day. Normally a holiday, but as the ship is in, and will be leaving tomorrow; it will be a work day for most on station. The holiday has been postponed till Monday. Australia Day is usually celebrated at Mawson with a model boat race across the harbour, then a spit roast for lunch. Hopefully we will be able to get over to station to join in.
